Part-time Communications Specialist

Are you a quick learner, excited to explore the world of startups and international business? Consider an internship with CENE.

 

CENE's mission is to connect successful Canadian entrepreneurs based in the Boston area to support their compatriots as they launch tech and life science companies back in Canada. At a small and nimble organization, you'll have the chance to engage with highly successful executives and entrepreneurs in the Boston area as well as the startup ecosystem in Canada. No layers of hierarchy to cut through here. You'll learn the skills needed to work in a startup environment that will benefit you in a wide variety of future career paths.

 

This unique opportunity could be right for an individual with experience in communications, marketing, public relations and event coordination for student or similar organizations. 

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Help plan and execute member networking events and partner visits from Canada

  • Support social media and membership growth strategy

  • Design sponsorship and marketing materials

  • Sit in on board meetings with high-level executives

  • Make updates to CENE's website

  • Implement marketing automation via Mailchimp

  • Analyze membership records and update database

 

Requirements:

  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • You have natural curiosity and are eager to grow into areas you don't know about yet

  • You are eager to take responsibility for projects and driven to complete them on time

  • You are available 5 - 10 hours per week with one on-site meeting per week (Cambridge or Boston)

  • You're quick and comfortable with online tasks and basic software such as MS Office and Google Docs. We use Mailchimp, Wix, and Canva regularly - it's a plus if you know those programs already.

Pay range is $12 - 15/hour.

Community Volunteers

 

Volunteering at CENE events is great way to connect to the innovation community, meet members of CENE's network, and learn more about innovation in Canada and the New England area. Volunteers are invited to attend events and programs they support. Current areas open for volunteers: 

 

Events - Provide logistical support including registration, coordinating panelists, check-in, setup/breakdown, and more. 

 

Marketing/Communication - Currently we have projects in need of volunteers for graphic design, video production, social media, and content creation/writing.
